Dr. George C. Wright Highlights the DiversityFIRST™ Awards Luncheon in Central Texas

Business professionals will gather in Austin, TX on October 18, 2012 for the Annual DiversityFirst™ Awards Luncheon. The luncheon will highlight the importance of incorporating diversity and inclusion in the community and the workplace with the theme "Looking Ahead: The Future of Diversity and Inclusion." "The DiversityFIRST™ Awards Luncheon recognizes those organizations and individuals who have made a commitment to their workforce and community by promoting the education and advancement of diversity and inclusion policies" said Dennis Kennedy, CEO and Founder of National Diversity Council. During this half-day event, corporations and individuals will be honored with the DiversityFirst™ Award for their outstanding accomplishments in promoting diversity and inclusion in their organizations. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in two best practices sessions focusing on "The Effects of WWII on Four Generations of Women." The afternoon keynote speaker will be Dr. George C. Wright, President of Prairie View A&M University. Dr. Wright's impressive tenure with institutions of higher education spans several universities, including posts as Executive Vice-President for academic affairs and provost at the University of Texas at Arlington, vice provost for university programs and director of the Afro-American studies program at Duke University, and vice provost for undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Wright has been the recipient of numerous fellowships, grants and awards. Dr. Wright is the author of numerous articles and essays as well as several books on racial injustice such as A History of Blacks in Kentucky: In Pursuit of Equality, 1890-1980, Volume II and Racial Violence in Kentucky, 1865-1940: Lynchings, Mob Rule, and "Legal Lynchings."
